Children from Reception through to Year 6 took to the stage with confidence and enthusiasm, presenting a carefully selected poem that they had worked hard to learn, rehearse and perform. Parents and carers were invited into school to watch the performances, creating a fantastic atmosphere of encouragement and celebration throughout the afternoon.

The event showcased a wide range of poetry, from Reception's heartwarming performance of Make a Friend and Year 1's entertaining The Witched, through to Year 6's impressive and dramatic interpretation of Macavity. Each year group brought its own unique style and personality to the performance, demonstrating outstanding expression, clear speaking voices and excellent stage presence.

Visitors enjoyed moving around the school to experience the different performances, giving them the opportunity to see the progression in children's speaking and communication skills across the year groups. It was a wonderful chance for our pupils to share their learning and perform in front of an audience, developing confidence and resilience while celebrating the joy of poetry and literature.

The afternoon highlighted not only the children's growing appreciation of language and performance but also many of our school values. Pupils showed tremendous togetherness as they supported one another, aspiration as they worked towards polished performances, empathy as they explored the emotions within each poem, and mutual respect as they listened attentively and celebrated the achievements of others.

We are incredibly proud of every child who took part. Performing in front of an audience takes courage, commitment and teamwork, and our pupils rose to the challenge brilliantly. Their enthusiasm, confidence and enjoyment were evident throughout the afternoon and made the event a memorable experience for everyone involved.

A huge thank you to all the parents, carers and family members who joined us and helped make the afternoon such a success. Your support means so much to our children and helps to make events like these so special.

Congratulations to all of our performers for delivering such an outstanding celebration of poetry. We look forward to building on this success and continuing to nurture a love of reading, language and performance across our school.
