Welcome to Year One!
We have one class in Year 1. Mrs Howard's class (1SH)
Our dedicated and enthusiastic staff are committed to providing a nurturing, engaging and inspiring learning environment where every child can thrive.
At Linaker Primary School, we build upon the strong foundations established in the Early Years, supporting children as they grow in confidence, independence and curiosity. Our exciting curriculum is carefully designed to spark a love of learning and help every child achieve their full potential.
Everything we do is driven by our Team Linaker values of Togetherness, Empathy, Aspiration and Mutual Respect. These values are woven through daily life in the classroom, helping children develop not only as learners but as kind, thoughtful and responsible members of our school community.
Reading is at the heart of our curriculum. We are passionate about fostering a lifelong love of books through daily story time, regular visits to our school library and high-quality texts that inspire learning across the curriculum. Our English lessons are built around an exciting and diverse book spine, giving children opportunities to explore different authors, cultures, experiences and ideas while developing their reading and writing skills.
In mathematics, we follow the White Rose Maths scheme, helping children to develop a deep understanding of number and mathematical concepts through practical activities, reasoning and problem-solving opportunities.
Throughout the year, children will enjoy a broad and enriching curriculum filled with memorable experiences, creative opportunities and meaningful learning. Whether they are investigating the world around them, developing their artistic talents, exploring history, carrying out scientific enquiries or working collaboratively with their friends, every day in Year 1 is designed to be engaging, challenging and fun.
We look forward to working in partnership with you to ensure your child enjoys a happy, successful and rewarding year in Year 1.
